The mighty Mississippi, just a few miles upriver from La Crosse...




The name "Trempealeau Mountain" is a corruption of the French "La Montagne Qui Trempe a Leau" which means "the mountain whose foot is bathed by water". The water referred to is the Mississippi River, as shown in this view downstream from near the top of Brady's Bluff.



Spring is late this year. You can still see last autumn's fallen leaves through the newly leafing trees.



The famous Hotel Trempealeau.



A brief shower is followed by a rainbow over one of the Mississippi's many lock and dams.
